Crazy Cat Lady

I've realized that it seems to other people that I hate my cat.

I do not.

Dorothy ("Dot") May is a sweet, lovable kitty! I'm pretty sure that she was the runt of her litter; she is full grown and still not very big. She has great big "saucer eyes" and a cute little Marilyn dot on her face. She can be sweet and cuddly and she's really great with Gabriel. I like her.

HOWEVER.....I would like her a LOT more if she didn't defecate in a receptacle that I have to keep in my house. It would also be awesome if she never ever EVER shed fur in my house ever again. I would love it if she would stay the hell out of my room. Yes--I cursed. That is how passionate I am about this subject.

I don't hate animals. But I also don't think they should be treated like humans. Dorothy is a CAT. She is our PET. If I had to choose between her and my son, the choice would be one of the easiest I have ever made. I enjoy having her around (most of the time), but she is NOT allowed in my bedroom! Other people may let animals lounge around or sleep in their bedroom, but I think that's.....well, gross. No offense to those of you who let your animal lick your face and sleep in your bed, but I think it's rather revolting.

I have to keep my bedroom door closed at all times. The cat knows she's not supposed to be in there. I don't let her lounge around in Gabe's room either. On the occasions that I do happen to leave the door open and I go in my room to find her sleeping in my pile of freshly-washed laundry, it pisses me off. I JUST WASHED THOSE CLOTHES!! I DO NOT WANT CAT HAIR ALL OVER THEM, YOU STUPID ANIMAL!!! As soon as she knows that I know she's in there, she scrams. If I'm lucky, she runs straight out of the door. Sometimes, though, she runs and hides under the bed where I can't reach her.

I have found a solution to that problem.

If she hides under the bed, I do a running dive onto it and start jumping up and down on my hands and knees like a crazy person. This, of course, scares the ever-livin' crap out of her and she runs out of the room.

I had to do this today and I just realized how entertaining it must be for anyone who catches me doing it...

  1. I have to agree.. something about a cat on a bed, which I used to let my cat do is pretty gross.... i'd find kitty kibbles in my bed that got stuck in her paws and there's nothing fun about that... My cat has been gone (after dropping him off at the SPCA after 10 years of dealing with it) about 3 years ago and I'm still trying ot get rid of his hair.
    blech!
