Moving to Hawaii, being hugely pregnant, and trying to get life in general in functional, working order takes up a lot of my time.
Anyway--I'm not sure I'm even in a real mood to write at the moment. Is that sad? Yes--and a little annoying. Grr. Basically, I'm here in Hawaii and life is pretty decent.
I've been going to the doctor every week. He is awesome and EXTREMELY tolerant of my odd and probably obnoxious sense of humor. Bless him. My mom thinks he's adorable and is convinced that we're going to be married some day (he is pretty young - a resident). She likes to talk and giggle about it and I'm pretty sure he heard her earlier this week (he was right outside the door when she said "He's cute, isn't he?!"). Not that I would object--he seems to have a great sense of humor and he's really nice. But uh....HELLO! He's my doctor. He's seen and poked and prodded my lady parts. And he's gonna see a lot more when all is said and done. Ick. Plus, again, he's my DOCTOR. Isn't there some sort of code they have to follow about seeing patients outside of the office? Why am I even entertaining this topic? Wow. Okay--done.
I have been going crazy trying to get all of the baby stuff together. Being here with my mom and having her help has been AMAZING. I don't know what I would do without her! I saved up money before I left, so I am very happy and proud to say that I have been able to get almost everything on my own! My mom's present to me is a super cute, multifunctional, awesome Graco Pack 'N Play. I LOVE IT. It has a raised part that acts as a bassinet (the downstairs "crib") and a changing table attachment and it has a little newborn napper thing! It vibrates, plays music and nature sounds. Hard to explain. Here's a crappy cell phone picture:
The thing on the left is the changing area. The thing on the right is the newborn napper--you can also see the little control box thing for the vibration and music and sounds. It also acts as a night light. When he's too big/heavy for the napper and changing station, they detach and the raised mattress part is a crib/bassinet. When he outgrows THAT, I can take out the part that raises the mattress and it's your typical every day pack 'n play! Yay! I love it! Thanks mom!
Anyway, other family and friends have bought some baby clothes and a few (adorable!) blankets and things. My dad's present to me is a really super awesome breast pump. Is it weird that I can't wait to try it out? Heaven bless him! Thank you thank you thank you daddy!! So other than those things I've been able to buy pretty much everything else! I bought a way cute crib and crib bedding set (safari theme--LOVE it!); a vibrating, music/nature sound playing baby swing; a vibrating, music/nature sound playing papasan infant seat; a car seat; two strollers--one is the kind that looks like just a stroller frame (the carseat/infant carrier attaches to it and locks in place - it's awesome because it takes up a LOT less space and it's super lightweight) and the other is for when he is a little bigger--it's a super awesome Combi stroller with little speakers that I can plug into my iPod (!) and it's also very compact and lightweight; and, last but not least, a way cute Eddie Bauer high chair that I am in love with. And then of course there's all the little stuff like a diaper bag and clothes and blankets and towels and bottles and pacifiers and bath stuff and nursing/feeding stuff and diapering stuff....the list is endless. It's almost ridiculous. But it's a lot of fun!!
Anyway, I'm tired. I'll tell you more about Hawaii and the beaches and the people and the food and everything....later....
